See more involvement.
What have you exeperienced in the past that you have found to work?
Young Episcopal Adults - Y.E.A. - host supplied ice and cups, everyone else brought stuff. Met in homes. 15-20 couples then began to engage other areas of the church.
We had neighborhood groups, but it was so broad it didn't stick. The zone "thing" left out folks who didn't live close to anyone.
An adult/parent class is thinking about beginning.
Foyer groups are still going on.
There is a women's group that is open to all, and has been meeting.
Social night to have a parent night out.
Event afterwards in the parish hall.
Ideas that do not rely on a committee, but are impromptu and rely on whoever shows up.
Krispie Kreme are sold for 50 cents and it is incentive to have folks come downstairs.
Why do we want to be involved?
To support one another when things are going on in the lives of each other.
I can meet friends anywhere, but church puts us on the same plane. I feel comfortable coming together to talk to people.
Church has been a family to me. There was tons of stuff going on during the period I was here. And there is still a lot of stuff going on.
Deepen the experience of community.
Welcoming people outside the church in a booth.
Define welcoming community. My experience has been that we came to the church, we reached out to meet folks, we find groups. We welcome anyone who wants to come.
How does God speak to you? A couple who reached out and invited us to their home, and have become very good friends. Those who have been here for a while, might reach out more to people who have just started coming,
Those of us who have been reached out to in the beginning, realized it was easy to see newcomers. Maybe we have become complacent in our way to reach out.
The community is what hooks us.
Pairing up a new family with a family that has been here for a while.
Share my life with others. I want people to know how excited I am about having a place to raise my children and have them supported here.
Then we began to share and the conversationn became the church we want to be, by being the community we want too be.
